Her sophisticated color sense and deft eye for mixing antique and modern pieces has a broad appeal, evidenced by residential commissions throughout the East Coast and the Caribbean. In between graduating from Vanderbilt and attending Parsons I worked on a few interior design projects for my family and realized that was the path I wanted to pursue. I worked for a few New York design firms before striking out on my own. Currently, I live in Locust Valley, NY, a beautiful town on the north shore of long island, about 20 miles outside of Manhattan. I am a proud mother of four boys.

MEG'S WALLPAPER DESIGNS

Besides the creative aspects of my job, I do enjoy the troubleshooting and problem solving. I think that having my own company amplifies my feelings of accomplishment. Whatever we are working on, whether we have just installed a project to for a happy client, are scheming for a new one, have hosted a great event in the shop, or designed a new color way for a wallpaper—it feels great to know that my hard work is paying off.

MEG BRAFF'S BOOK "THE DECORATED HOME"

I am continuously inspired by nature, the infinite range of blues and greens, and the striking color combinations that only mother nature can create. Wherever I am traveling I try to make time to visit the local museums and great houses; its a great way keep the eye fresh and expand your horizons.

For my style icons, I often think of Catherine Deneuve in 1970s personal style and her approach to decoration. In terms of historical figures in decorating, I am continuously inspired by the interiors of Frances Elkins, Billy Baldwin, David Hicks, and Albert Hadley. I love movies filmed in fabulous old houses such as The Philadelphia Story, Dinner at Eight and other movies of that era.

HER INSPIRATION

My favorite go-to hostess or thank you gift are flowers or an orchid. Otherwise a beautiful candle or truffled almonds are nice ideas.

EDUCATION
I studied Human Development at Vanderbilt University. During college I worked on a few interior design projects for my family and realized that was the path I wanted to pursue. So immediately after college I enrolled at Parsons in New York.

DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN?
I am a proud mother of four boys! My oldest is a junior at NYU, I have twins at UVA, and my youngest is a sophomore in high school.

WHAT'S THE MOST DIFFICULT PART ABOUT OWNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
I sometimes find it difficult to shut off at the end of the day. I’m the type of person who likes to return every email in a thoughtful way and a timely fashion. So after an all day meeting or site visit I usually have a serious backlog of messages— my staff and vendors have come to expect late night and early morning messages wherever I may be.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE TRAVEL MOMENT?
I have been fortunate enough to take quite a few fabulous trips with my family. This summer, I am looking forward to exploring Portugal with my husband and sons, and some dear friends.

FAVORITE FLOWER?
For cut flowers, I love ranunculus and peonies, and I always have a few orchids scattered throughout my house. And outside, nothing beats the scent of gardenia wafting through the air.

FAVORITE ARTIST?
Matisse is a constant inspiration. I love his use of color, his subject matter, and I am especially enamored with his paintings of interiors. I also love the work of David Hockney, and his paintings of water. Right now I’m also loving artists by Roger Muhl and Gabriel Godard.

FAVORITE MUSEUM?
Musee D’Orsay in Paris and The Barnes Collection in Philadelphia.

FAVORITE MOVIE INTERIOR?
I love movies filmed in fabulous old houses such as The Philadelphia Story, Dinner at Eight and other movies of that era.
