We are so excited that our Speaker Series is back, in which we get to interview, engage with, and learn from inspiring leaders. This spring, we reintroduced the series with designers Jessie Randall of Loeffler Randall and Hunter Bell. DC has always been a center of bringing people together from all different backgrounds and professions, and this was the perfect opportunity to uphold that reputation.

Hunter believes that fashion’s constant evolution is endlessly exciting, and continuously relied on to spark joy and inspiration. Through her creations, she strives to inspire people to be bold in their lives and embrace their personal style.

Jessie created Loeffler Randall in 2004 with her husband, out of their apartment in Cobble Hill. Eighteen years and three children later, she is still doing what she loves – making distinctive products in small, considered batches with attention to every detail.

The evening began with a Q&A panel between Jessie, Hunter and our founder and CEO Jocelyn at The George Town Club. Our team and local Tuckernuck enthusiasts came to the event, and were able to get a close look into Jessie and Hunter’s vulnerable revelations on how they stay motivated, creative and positive while running a business.

I’ve always loved fashion so much and forged my own path. There are no 'don’ts' in fashion. Something I don’t like could be amazing for someone else. It’s all about being authentic to yourself and wearing things that make you feel good, both physically and emotionally. It’s what different about you that makes you cool, the parts of you that are weird. That’s what matters.

Taking risks in fashion is so fun. It’s supposed to be playful and fun, dressed up or down. I love when someone takes a feminine piece from our collection and makes it edgy. I wear sneakers everyday. And they go with dresses. Or I'll pair a sweatshirt with a dress. It works.

Following the panel, Jocelyn hosted an intimate dinner at her home with our close friends and interesting women in the DC area, including interior designers, artists and business owners. Guests entered through Jocelyn’s side gate and into her lush garden, where they sipped on hibiscus margaritas and other beverages of their choice.

Dinner was a three-course meal catered by Occasions and served in Jocelyn’s conservatory with the windows open, making guests feel like they were tucked away in a garden oasis.

The table setting had just the right amount of color and detail to make it simple yet beautiful. The paper menus were created by artist Laura Lines. Neutral notes of bamboo and rattan were completed with blue and white plates and pops of colorful flowers provided by Darling & Daughters. To finish off the tablescape, Jocelyn’s interior designer Cece Barfield Thompson provided sterling silver goblets from her latest collection.

After so much isolation, this was a night to cherish, remember and celebrate female leadership and collaboration. We can’t wait for more of these events!
