    Shallon's Provence Wedding

    While studying abroad in Paris, Tuckernuck's Fashion Director, Shallon, fell in love with all things French, from the delectable meals to the charming city surroundings. After exploring several regions of the country, particularly with Provence, she always dreamt of coming back and making more memories with those nearest and dearest to her. Read on to discover how Shallon created the quintessential Provence weekend experience leading up to her black-tie garden wedding.

    Upon arrival Thursday evening, Shallon’s in-laws hosted the wedding party guests for an intimate rehearsal dinner at La Mirande in Avignon, the elegant hotel where Shallon and her wedding guests stayed. The property is especially known for its authentic and intimate restaurant on site. Shallon chose a Lela Rose dress, Gianvito Rossi shoes, and Jennifer Behr earrings.

    After dinner, Shallon’s mom surprised her with a local female musician playing the accordion and leading the guests to the welcome party in the hidden garden of the La Divine Comedie. Everyone gathered here over drinks, after-dinner cheeses, and an assortment of French desserts.
    On Friday afternoon, Shallon, Brian and their friends enjoyed a picnic lunch and wine tasting at a Chateau la Nerthe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Shallon wore a Zimmerman dress, Tuckernuck earrings, a Lola Hats hat, and a custom straw bag with “Bride” inscribed.

    That evening, all the guests traveled to Gordes for a family style supper. Shallon recreated her Sunday night supper that she had every Sunday while living with a French family. Roast chicken, an unforgettable burrata and tomatoes, and fresh vegetables were on the menu.

    For the big day on Saturday, Shallon chose the 18th-century farmhouse, “Provence Poires,” meaning “The Pear Trees Estate.” Shallon’s was the first wedding the venue hosted, and Shallon made sure no one saw it until the day of, making the event all the more special.

    Shallon hosted a pre-wedding luncheon with her bridesmaids from every phase of her life, and gifted each of them custom earrings and flower crowns for the day.
    Shallon wore a custom Johanna Ortiz dress with a blush bow (her favorite part!), custom blush Alexandre Birman heels, and an emerald bracelet of her grandmother’s. This was her “something borrowed,” and a piece which her mother also wore on her wedding day.
    For the golden hour ceremony, Shallon kept decorations to simple pots of flowers so as not to take away from the venue’s beauty. One of her favorite decor details was a custom fan for each guest to use, hand painted by Columbian artists. After saying “I do,” she and Brian walked down the aisle to “I Want to Hold Your Hand” by The Beatles.

    Shallon and Brian took sunset photos by a vintage Porsche that they borrowed from the wedding’s pastry chef. They were later whisked away in the same ride, going straight to their honeymoon.
    An impeccable meal was very important to Shallon. Appetizers included Brian’s favorite foie gras during reception time, followed by a sit-down, multi-course French meal, with delicious wine.

    Invitations and artwork, including the menus and monogrammed linen napkins, were made by Stephanie Fishwick. The sterling silver napkin rings were Shallon’s mother and grandmother’s own, which they collected over the years. Pears foraged from the orchards were used to make the seating cards, and string lights created a romantic atmosphere.
    To finish the night, Shallon changed into a Costarellos dress, and Manolo Blahnik shoes (her “something blue”). After an amazing band, a French DJ (Brian’s request!) came out at 1 AM down by the pool, beginning the fun-filled, late-night celebration to be remembered forever.
