Tuckernuck Girl: Sage Goldsmith

Save This Article

Meet Sage Goldsmith, our friend and artist who grew up painting with her grandmother on Nantucket. Known for her landscapes, seascapes and pet portraits, Sage’s art is full of life, detail and color. We caught up with Sage while she set up for her exhibit at the Westmoor in July. Tuckernuck founder, Jocelyn, actually recently commissioned a portrait of her beloved Goldendoodle Murphy who passed away in August. From moody night seascapes to colorful renderings of Bartlett Farm flower fields, there were so many winners!
My favorite topic to paint is a Nantucket landscape or seascape. The colors, history and moodiness of the island make for endless inspiration. I love playing with different palettes and am known for my vivid colors.

My grandmother, Sybil Goldsmith, continues to be my number one inspiration. I grew up painting with her every summer on Nantucket in her Westchester Street studio. She was well known for her portraits, landscapes and florals. I miss her every day.

I love all the impressionists. Renoir would be a good one to have a drink with if I had to choose. I'm picturing a cafe in Paris with rose and a cheese platter discussing techniques...Warhol would also be a good one for entertainment purposes.

Also I love painting dog portraits. I have four of my own rescue dogs, so there's plenty of inspiration there!

My personal style is casual, boho chic and no nonsense. I love all shades of blue, patterns and stripes. My addiction is to jewelry and where I love to layer and collect.
