Jocelyn's Fall Edit

November 11th, 2021

As she anticipates the arrival of her 5th (!) child, we caught up with our superstar founder and CEO Jocelyn. In the midst of seamlessly juggling her busy lifestyle, Jocelyn took us around uptown New York City and shared her tips, tricks and picks for all moms-to-be. From flowy dresses to head-turning outerwear and multi-layered jewelry, maternity style never looked so good.

JOCELYN ON HER SIGNATURE STYLE

"Everyone at the office knows I have a passion for chic outerwear and cool shoes. My vices! I think it’s because I live in NYC so I am always running around outside. If all you see is a cool coat and boots, it doesn't matter what is underneath."

JOCELYN ON HER MATERNITY STYLE

"Between Maddy, September, Sophie and me, we pass around all of our maternity pants. It’s truly a sisterhood of the traveling pants. It’s key to invest in a few chic maternity pants… casual denim, fancy denim, black faux leather, white denim etc. From there I wear a lot of our Tuckernuck sweaters."

JOCELYN ON MOTHERHOOD

"Motherhood gets easier as you have more children. You learn what you are good at and what you aren’t. Once I let go of expectations and just tried to be a present, happy mom that focused on the things I was good at, it became so much easier and joyful... Having additional children forces you to prioritize them at times and not sweat all the little things. It also makes you realize how quickly they grow and allows you to really cherish those early snuggles a bit more."

JOCELYN ON ACTIVEWEAR

"My exercise of choice is tennis, jogging or pilates. Our latest neutral collection makes it easy to throw on an overcoat and feel instantly put together. I only wear the Tnuck Sport. 😊"

JOCELYN ON ACCESSORIZING

"Cute scarves, blazers and outerwear are always great ways to accessorize. I also have the Barbour tack hat in all colors. Since I’m constantly walking in NYC, I love investing in a couple of chic, outfit-making outerwear pieces. Just throw one on with denim and sneakers, and you look elevated. I also love layering gold jewelry and wearing gold hoops."

CATCHING UP WITH JOCELYN

Walk us through your various “uniforms” – work, “out,” weekend. (Everyday use, fancy, guest, fancy guest…) What can you not live/dress without?

Everyday: A nice Tuckernuck sweater, a pair of on-trend denim, and a comfy but cool pair of loafers or sneakers. Top it off with a cool jacket and tack hat.

Work: A chic dress with cool boots (and a belt, if not pregnant). It’s so comfortable, and easy to throw on.

Workout: My exercise of choice is tennis, jogging or pilates. I only wear the Tnuck Sport. ;)

Downtown night out: Faux leather maternity denim, a flowy blouse, and statement earrings.

Fancy: Any of our specialty dress brands, from prints to sleek black dresses. I like to change it up!

Maternity style has gotten so much better since the days of our mothers' sack dresses with cows on them, and I imagine even in the last few years. What are some of the best brands for the money out there now?

Shopbop has a good maternity section for pants. I like Paige and Madewell denim, and the Hatch Walkabout jumpsuit. We also have a maternity-friendly section, with pieces that you can wear before, during and after pregnancy. I love our Lauren cardigan sweaters and our knit dresses. I also live in Tibi’s sweater dresses with sneakers or boots. Sea and Staud also have great flowy options.

What are some of the trends now that work for a pregnant body that aren’t maternity-specific? Like, not high-waisted jeans, so instead…?

Oversized sweater dresses, long knit dresses with boots, mini shift dresses, cardigans and boyfriend sweaters, blazers, chic sneakers.

What are you most excited to wear again when you’re no longer pregnant?

High-waisted denim!!!!!!! And belts. I love belting cool dresses with boots.
